The Lonely Planet 2016 top ten destinations list is out, and Croatia once more makes the list, this time for one of its most up and coming regions – Northern Dalmatia.
It has been quite a year for the region already, with Zadar voted the best destination in Europe by European Best Destinations earlier this year. In addition to making the list, Lonely Planet also did an in-depth feature on Northern Dalmatia earlier this month, listing 9 reasons to visit the region:
Wild swimming, waterfalls and white-water rafting in Krka National Park
Roman ruins and modern innovations in Zadar
Climbing, canoeing and caving in Paklenica National Park
Tradition meets modernity on Pag Island
Nin: the Croatian Bethlehem
Slalom sailing through the Kornati Islands
Kicking back in Šibenik
Europe’s latest music festival playground
This year’s top 10:
Peloponez, Greece
Aarhus, Denmark
Venice, Italy
Dordogne, France
Lviv, Ukraine
Warwickshire, England
Extremadura, Spain
East Coast of Tenerife, Canary Islands
Texel, Holland
