Medjimurje Presents its Rich Tourist Offer in Slovenia

Total Croatia News

Medjimurje continues to promote its tourism with a great night in Ljubljana.

After impressive performances in Paris, Pecs, Nassfeld and Warsaw the bar was raised high, so preparations for the introduction of Medjimurje in Ljubljana were intensified in order to prepare for the big opening which was held on May 5, 2016. The main reason for that is the closeness of two neighbourly countries when you can almost see, feel, smell and taste what your colleague is doing on the other side of the border. And as we all know, you can’t fool your first neighbour.

Croatian Tourist Board in Slovenia and the Tourist Board of Medjimurje County invited leading names of Slovenian wine and food, sports and cultural scene as well as representatives of almost all Slovenian media that focus on tourism to join them on opening night.

Medjimurje was presented in a three-hour programme, directed by Sladjana Herman with an excellent collage of typical and original cuisine and special emphasis on best choice of wines that can be sampled on the Medjimurje wine road.

The course of the evening was enriched by a photo and film records of Medjimurje, followed by a surprise ‘drop in’ of cyclists from Medjimurje, led by Branimir Blaic, director of  Life Class Spa St. Martin, who started their journey early in the morning that day in St. Martin/Međimurje. Renowned Međimurje Folk musician and writer Lidija Bajuk and Trio also performed with the help of Vlado Kreslin from Prekmurje, arguably the first name of Slovenian Ethno-Folk-Rock scene while the performance by Dixieland Band from Čakovec left no one feeling indifferent.

The most important and most valued part of the evening was unusually authentic and authoritative oral testimony of impressions of Medjimurje or from Medjimurje.

They were publicly expressed by the legendary connoisseur of Slovenian cuisine dr. Janez Bogataj, world format chef and owner of exclusive JB restaurant Janez Bratovž, wine guru Mira Semic, mega cyclist Marko Baloh, famous sommelier Joze Rozman and many others.

From tangible friendly vibes of the Medjimurje night in Ljubljana to new days of Slovenian-Croatian friendship, the evening ended with a loud call “ Wellcome to Medjimurje” and an invitation to the Štrigova wine Festival Urbanovo 2016,  which will be held May 13-15.
