Total Croatia Sailing will go live next month, the latest addition to the Total family. We will be covering events on the Adriatic all summer, as well as bringing you information on what is new for Croatia Sailing 2017, starting with Book2Sail on April 26, 2017.
Croatia is fast becoming the top boating destination in the world and, with over 4,000 yachts on the charter market, it has the largest fleet of charter yachts in the world.
This incredible supply and demand for yachts makes it increasingly difficult to stand out as a Yacht Owner or to navigate through the many charter companies and brokers as a Charterer. However, as the world moves faster and new Apps are being created to make our day-to-day lives that much simpler, why not a platform that makes the booking process easier?
Enter Book2Sail.
Being someone who has worked at sea on various yachts and dealt with charter agents, I was curious to learn more.
Book2Sail is an online booking platform that was established at the end of 2016, with the clear goal of creating an international chartering community in which both Boat Owners and Charterers alike find value; they aim to make yacht chartering as accessible, effortless and secure as possible.
Book2Sail is a Malta-based company, so when asked why Croatia, they said:
“Establishing in Croatia was an absolute priority for us; with such a fantastic abundance of islands and reefs to explore, heavenly climate, rich culture, crystal clear waters and bays that exemplify tranquillity, it’s not hard to understand why this Adriatic jewel has become one of the Mediterranean’s most favourable chartering destinations.”
Having successfully completed the initial phases of the project and built strong ties with Croatian Boat Owners along with partnerships with organisations seeking to provide value within the sector, Book2Sail is now turning its focus to heightening awareness and understanding of this platform and promoting Croatia as the leading charter destination.
Unlike Central Booking agents who take a high commission from yachts to be in their central fleet, Boat Owners, regardless of whether they have a 10ft speed boat or Goliath of a Superyacht, receive free registration to enter the ever-growing community.
The main benefits for Charterers are that it makes the process far more manageable, after a few-clicks potential charterers seeking to rent a yacht are able to choose from a diverse selection within minutes; they can search for their preferred price range, type of yacht, size, location and whether they want a Captained or Bareboat yacht. The process is easy enough for first-time charterers and even more ideal for the experienced charterer or skipper who knows exactly what they want. What about support? First time charterers, generally have a lot of initial questions, so the Book2Sail team can be contacted at any time throughout the process via the platform.
Yacht Owners are also presented with more flexibility as they are able to list, manage and deal with requests with ease and outsource the marketing to Book2Sail, taking advantage of this platform and its technology.
Book2Sail isn’t the only online booking platform and 2017 will be the first full-season that this kind of technology is entering the charter market. How it will impact charter agencies is yet to be seen; however, the market increases every year and this has the potential to open the market to a new-generation of charterers by making it more accessible to everyone and putting control of the experience in the user’s hands.
