New Ultra Luxury Hotel Opens in Orebić

Total Croatia News

The new hotel is one of the most luxurious ones in Croatia, with rates of up to 21,000 euro a night.

In Orebić, one of the most luxurious hotels in Croatia has been opened. It is the Villa Katarina boutique hotel, which received its first guests a few days ago, reports Novac.hr on September 20, 2018.

They came with a luxury yacht which is currently anchored near Orebić. According to unofficial information, the guests are business partners and friends of Villa Katarina’s owner Ruben Lee Anderson. This is the second investment of Ruben Lee Anderson in Orebić. The US investor has previously renovated one of the most modern wineries in the area, Korta Katarina, which launched its first top quality wines some ten years ago.

Villa Katarina has three luxury suites, the most luxurious of which will be reportedly available for between 14,000 and 21,000 euro a night. In total, the hotel has around twenty beds, in three apartments and five additional rooms. There are also various accompanying amenities.

The hotel has five stars and it was created after an adaptation of the former Rivijera hotel, which was built before the Second World War. After the end of the war, it was used as a small resort. The facility has five floors, four of which will be available for guests. The fifth floor is home to the owner’s apartment.

Ruben Lee Anderson took over the facility in 2005, and Villa Katarina will have a rather unusual business policy. It will not be possible for everyone to rent a room there; the apartments and rooms will be available only to pre-selected guests, which means that it will not be possible to reserve them using the usual sales channels. The mysterious hotel still does not have a website.

Twenty days ago, the luxury facility was presented to local entrepreneurs. One of those who saw its interior is Antonio Mikulić. “What I saw amazed me. I expected it to be a luxuriously equipped facility, but I was still surprised. This could be a milestone for Orebić and Pelješac in terms of tourism,” said Mikulić, the co-owner of the award-winning family hotel Adriatic in Orebić and head of the family winery in Mokalo.

Ante Mrgudić, a long-time tourist industry professional and former director of HTP Orebić, was delighted with the hotel. “I have seen a lot of hotels throughout the world, but this is something different. As far as I know, the hotel has received categorisation, which means that it has everything needed to start operating. It is categorized with a maximum of five stars, but for me, it should have seven stars. It is the kind of luxury which I have never seen before. Of course, this dramatically raises the quality of this destination,” said Mrgudić.
