Get ready for some of the most spectacular footage you might have seen this year
Here’s a proper visual treat to end your day with: photographer Božan Štambuk created a breathtaking timelapse video of the night sky above Brač island.
The project took him on a journey of over 1000 kilometres in total, as he wanted to get the best images of the Milky Way and the enchanting night sky.
“Out of 8.760 hours in a year, the centre of our Milky Way is best visible for 100 hours, provided the sky is clear and there’s no moisture nor light pollution in the air. In this short time window I travelled over 1000 kilometres, at night, over unfamiliar and inaccessible terrain. I battled sleep deprivation and random sorts of ‘beasts’ to complete my exhibition ‘2017: Brač Odissey’. This timelapse video composed of over 1.200 images wasn’t planned from the start, but came to life along with the photographs. This was my first attempt at astrophotography and editing of this particular sort of videos, it could’ve been way better from a technical perspective, but I’m very pleased nonetheless. I did my best, just as my humble equipment did’, said Štambuk.
The footage features some of the renowned sites on Brač island, such as the Golden Cape in Bol, the Petrinović mausoleum in Supetar, and the Blaca monastery.
