We’ll never be able to single out just one beach (or ten) as the most beautiful one on the Croatian coast, but it doesn’t hurt to put a couple of places in the spotlight every once in a while.
The European Parliament put together a short animated video advising their Twitter followers where to go for a swim this summer, reported tportal. Their first choice? The gorgeous pebble beach Podrače on Makarska rivera.
The EP supervises testing of sea water quality on popular beaches all over Europe; 21.000 bathing sites are tested for pollution each year. According to the video, 96% of the sites are okay for swimming, with 85% rated excellent! Among those in the top tier, Podrače takes the lead. It’s easy to understand why it’s often called the pearl of Makarska riviera – it’s a tranquil, idyllic place sheltered by cliffs that keep it hidden from the surrounding tourist infrastructure.
Apart from Podrače, the Europan Parliament recommends lake Bohinj in Slovenia and the Gardon river in France. See the video below:
