Up-and-coming bands are about to meet experienced musicians in days leading to New Year’s Eve
You might have noticed the abundance of music festivals in Croatia in the summer months, but we like to keep the party going regardless of the season: the 9th Rovinj Music Festival is about to crank up the positive vibes in the last days of the year, reports Glas Istre on December 15, 2017.
The festival will take place from December 27 to 30, and the organisers stated their main goal is to make the event better with each passing year, aiming to be different and more special than other festivals and music programmes in the country. How do they go about that? They create a quality lineup by giving a chance to young, up-and-coming bands to perform at a prestigious event.
“Apart from four demo bands that will compete for the winning title, the audience will have an opportunity to enjoy a free live show of the band Mangroove from Zagreb, at the Gandusio Theatre on December 27. The festival will then move into a tent at Valdibora for two following concerts, also free – the local band The Link 20 and the Rovinj Music Laboratory composed of more than 200 members”, said Zoran Božić, the founder of the Rovinj Music Festival.
Tickets for the two following nights come at a price of 40 kuna, in case you want to attend the competitive shows: on December 29, we’ll see demo bands KI and TaleQuale, along with renowned bands Elemental and Night Express. On December 30, demo bands Negdje Između and Lorelei will be joined by Croatian rock bands Atomsko sklonište and Opća opasnost.
Denis Budim, a legendary sound engineer from Rovinj, said the festival’s main selling point is that it gathers both the up-and-coming stars and experienced musicians under the same roof, in the same conditions, giving them the chance to show off their skills to a large audience.
The festival is sponsored by the City of Rovinj and its Tourist Board which recognised the potential and value of the attractive event.
