Sailing the Adriatic in 1845: Part 2 – Pula to Dubrovnik and Budva

Total Croatia News

Following on from the stunning capturing of 18402 sailing the Istrian peninsula on November 9, 2017, Giuseppe Rieger’s journey continues from Pula all the way past Dubrovnik to Budva in Montenegro.

Truly the Mediterranean as It Once Was.

After yesterday’s introduction to the work of Giuseppe Rieger, who captured the entire Croatian Adriatic coast as it was in the 1840’s, the journey continues from Pula all the way down through Kvarner and Dalmatia and into Montenegro.

See how your favourite Croatian destinations looked 170 years ago, and ask yourself how many UNESCO World Heritage Sites can you see on the journey? We can count six.

Special tribute to Vlatko Ignatoski for collating these beautiful sketches into this video and making it accessible to all. Just one part of the excellent work he has done on the Adriatic sea.
