Shirtless in Dubrovnik? That Will Cost 1000 Kuna

A new bylaw passed by Dubrovnik City Council on July 25, 2016 aims to improve the dress code in the historic city. Taking off your shirt is now an expensive business. 

If has long been a source of slight tension – the sight of tourists walking around Croatia’s historic towns and cities dressed for the beach – and Dubrovnik City Council has acted to dissuade from tourists from the practice with the introduction of a new bylaw, which was passed by the city council yesterday. 

There will be new signs at three entrances to the old town – at Pile, Ploce and Buza – warning visitors of the new situation where tourists walking around in the old town in beach wear or without a top will be fined on the spot 1000 kuna (about 140 euro).
