Continuing our occasional series on the most important Croatian festivals in history, which started with the Sinj Alka in 1969, a look at Dubrovnik’s Festival of St. Blaise (Sv. Vlaho) on May 6, 2017.
One of the undoubtedly highlights of 2017 for me was my first experience of the wonderful Feast of St Blaise (Sv Vlaho), the patron saint of Dubrovnik – and a much loved patro saint at that. For anyone wanting to truly experience Dubrovnik at its finist, the first few days of February around this festival are truly exceptional. The town is filled – but not overcrowded – with locals, relaxing and celebrating their most important annual tradition. And what tradition there is. Here is TCN’s take on the main day this year.
And what was St. Vlaho like in years gone by? A delighted video overview from the 1930 celebrations in Dubrovnik from Dubrovacka Televizija.
