From traditional game of picigin to relaxed coffe on Riva, video is a great postcard of Split’s winter lifestyle
It’s not very often that a video wins over the hearts of the locals in Split, Croatia. That all changed with the release of a video produced by two enthusiasts on the very first day of the new year, and released on January 2, 2016.
Video depicts the holiday atmosphere around Advent in Split and of course main city beach Bačvice, legendary game of picigin on the first day of the new year and just the everyday life in this Mediterranean city. Since it was shared several thousand times in just 24 hours, it’s doing its share in promoting the city to the global audience. This video was not commissioned by a tourist board or any company, it is the work of two local enthusiasts Dario Waynder and Nikša Borčić.
Dalmacija News caught up with the authors: “To tell you the truth, end result is completely different from what I first had in mind. At first I just wanted to record the traditional game of picigin on the first day of the new year, but we ended up extending it, and I am more than happy with the end result. It seems people like it, they keep sharing it, and I’m thrilled. I knew Friday was going to be the last sunny day for a while so I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to get that authentic, relaxed Split on camera” Dario Waynder commented.
Maybe after watching it you will understand why us locals think it is the most beautiful city in the world.
