Slobodan Kadić, a journalist of Total Croatia News and Glas Slavonije, is the recipient of the prestigious award by the F.E.S.T., European Federation of Tourism Journalists for 2016, for exceptional contribution to travel journalism in the role of developing tourism. The award, presented for the last 35 years to journalists who selflessly promote and advance development of tourism, was handed to him by Antonio Conte, President of F.E.S.T. This year there were 124 nominees from 35 nations.

Kadić was nominated by the Croatian subsidiary of FIJET, the oldest association of tourism journalists and tourism writers in the world, founded in 1954 in Paris, as well as by the Association of Tourism Journalists of the Croatian Journalists’ Society. In the opinion of Vojko Pleština, Board President of INTERSTAS and Central Committee member of F.E.S.T., Slobodan Kadić distinguished himself with exceptionally high quality journalistic, travel and non-fiction work, both at home and abroad.

“His reportages of less known areas of continental Croatia have a very impressive and creative way of presenting authenticity, the richness of cultural and natural heritage, gastronomical and enological treasure, binding history and modernity while offering readers a great way to sense the atmosphere, tourism values and area potential. We have concluded that Slobodan Kadić noticeably contributed to a great presentation of Croatian tourism offer and a quality valorisation of the society of tourism journalists,” the award explanation stated.

“I would like to firstly thank Glas Slavonije and TCN for enabling me my reportages to be read around the world in Croatian and English. Awards by experts are always the nicest. A big thank you to women who nominated me: Tina Eterović Čubrilo, President of FIJET Croatia and Karin Mimica, President and good spirit of the Association of Tourism Journalists of the Croatian Journalists’ Society, as they believed in me all these years and motivated me. My award is shared with all my colleagues with whom I’ve worked for years towards one goal – promoting tourism as something unavoidable in the 21st century,” said Kadić who arrived to the Solin hotel President from Moscow, where he lives and works for several years now.

The international tourism awards ceremony was held again this year under the patronage of the Town of Solin and Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović. As part of the event an expert scientific convention was held, a round table on the topic of “Photography in tourism and its application with the arrival of social networks.”

“Slavonia and Baranja have plenty to offer to any guest so journalists must not be indifferent towards these advantages but keep writing about them to form an awareness of travel with their readers. This is our mission, sometimes utopian, but unspeakably important,” Kadić concluded.
