With a 36% increase in British tourists in 2015, the UK is falling in love with Croatia again, a generation after it was the second most popular desination of all. 23 reasons why, by The Daily Telegraph on July 1, 2016. 

A generation ago, Croatia (aka the Adriatic Coast of the Former Yugoslavia) was the second most popular tourist destination for Brits after Spain. Some 440,000 tourists made the trip each year, most of them through the now defunct Yugo Tours. War in the region put paid to the Adriatic’s popularity soon after, and the emergence of new, low-cost sun destinations such as Greece, Turkey and Tunisia, made it all the more harder for Croatia to regain its previous market share. 

But things are changing. Fast. 

A big feature in The Daily Telegraph today on 23 reasons why Croatia – a country which experienced a 36% growth in tourism from the UK this year alone, with 2016 set to grow further.
