September 27, 2018 – The high-end social elite of Europe (but not only) and the top-business decision makers of the yachting and luxury markets gather in Monaco to check out the latest trends in the superyacht lifestyle industry.
The Superyachts Convention
120 superyachts (106 motor yachts and 16 sailing yachts) – with an average length of 49,5 meters and a whopping total value combined of 3 billion euro – are on display until Saturday, September 29, 2018, during the 28th edition of the Monaco Yacht Show.
The stars of the show are Kismet (built in 2014), which is the largest motor yacht presented at MYS2018 (95,2 m) and Sybaris (built in 2016) – the largest sailing yacht (76 m).
About half of the yachts exhibited are less than two years old.
Boys and Their Toys
While the superyachts kept our jaws permanently dropped, the most fun part of the Monaco Yacht Show was the ‘Tenders & Toys’ area. Displaying the latest trends in high-end water toys, from inflatables to private submarines, this part of the exhibition tries to attract a new, younger, superyacht clientele, for which the entertainment part is one of the main criteria in the selection of a yacht to buy or charter.
Hypercars & Hyperprices
The Car Deck area showcases a selection of about a dozen limited edition and prototype cars (and one motorcycle) with either vintage or extremely futuristic designs.
We spent some good time admiring, for instance, the spectacular Milan Red hypercar, built by the Austrian motor manufacturer Milan Automotive in just 99 units, and priced at 2 million euro each.
