The luxury hotel is considered to be the oldest hotel on the Adriatic coast in Croatia
After an extensive nine-month renovation process, Bluesun Hotel Group opened their TUI BLUE Jadran Hotel in Tučepi, which is now almost completely booked, Slobodna Dalmacija reported on July 10.
The hotel was purchased for a price of EUR 12 million in 2013 and it was opened last weekend. It has 161 rooms and 11 suites, three pools, restaurants and bars, an open-air gym, luxury wellness and other facilities.
Lea Aviani was the architect behind the hotel’s new look, and she worked together with a curatorial team because the building is protected as a cultural monument.

“We were completely booked during the first week, and it looks like it will stay that way throughout the season. TUI will remain the concessionaire of the hotel for the next five years and the hotel will function as part of their luxury Blue franchise, the only of its kind in Croatia,” Sunce Koncern CEO Tonči Boras said, adding that this is the first five-star hotel in the Bluesun group.
The hotel was built by German war prisoners in 1948 based on plans by architect Branko Bun in a typical Bauhaus style. It soon became the symbol of luxury tourism along the Makarska Riviera, which lasted until the Homeland War, when it was home to displaced refugees from around Croatia. The building is also considered to be the oldest hotel on the Adriatic coast in Croatia.

In addition to the new hotel’s success, Krunoslav Šošić, CEO of Hoteli Tučepi said that it looks like this is going to be the best season yet – all Tučepi hotels are fully booked until the end of July, and it looks like it will stay that way throughout August, too.
