The festival celebrates its 18th birthday and the party seems very promising.
A continuous ten-day entertainment event will yet again commence in the baroque city of Varaždin thanks to the new edition of everyone’s favourite – Špancirfest. The festival will celebrate its eighteenth birthday from 19 to 28 August, and visitors will, as always, enjoy excellent musical shows, fantastic cuisine and impressive multimedia and artistic performances, reports journal.hr on July 19, 2016.
One of the novelties this year is the expansion of the area where the event is being held to include the entire Varaždin historical centre. Therefore, Špancirfest becomes the only Croatian festival held within an area of 35 hectares. Thanks to this additional space, visitors will have an opportunity to see some even more demanding street performances. Among them is a theatre and circus show by the French group Transe Express. The ten-day festival will offer about 100 street performances, including stand-up comedians, 3D mapping, virtual painting of the baroque buildings, educational and entertainment workshops.
The musical part of the event will attract fans of great music of all genres, and visitors will be taken on an epic journey through different musical styles at three festival stages by performers such as Manu Chao and his La Ventura, TBF, Frajle, Hladno Pivo, Lajbach, Pips Chips&Videoclips, Lea Dekleva and Zoran Predin, Esma Redžepova, Urban&4, Perpetuum Jazzile and others.
Children always come in great numbers to Špancirfest, and the Creative Park will be opened especially for them. With its design and features, Creative Park is a place that should stimulate children’s creativity and let them build a variety of skills.
Seven-day tickets for the Pan Stage are 350 kuna, while prices of daily tickets range from 70 to 175 kuna for Manu Chao La Ventura. A ticket for six days of the music programme at the Croatia Osiguranje Stage is 250 kuna; price of daily tickets ranges from 70 to 120 kuna. Events on the Kapucinski Square Stage are free for visitors. Tickets are available at the Eventim selling points and on the official website of the festival.
