Zagreb Featured in Condé Nast Traveller

We love Zagreb to bits, so it comes as no surprise that everyone else seems to love it as much as we do these days.

After being named the best European destination by Lonely Planet, Zagreb was featured in the New York Times, the Guardian, Monarch UK’s blog, and various other travel blogs, and the capital has now made it to Condé Nast Traveller as well.

“Forget Prague or Budapest, Zagreb is the next central European vacay on the top of our list. This hidden gem is nestled under the southern slopes of the ethereal Medvednica Mountain, just across from the stunning Sava River. When we think of Croatia, we tend to think of its beaches and crystalline sea. Now that Emirates has launched a direct flight to Zagreb, get ready to unearth this traveller’s wonderland deep in the heart of the country during the wonderfully warm summer months,” author Maria Noyen writes.

The article gives a short overview of Zagreb’s history, mentions that it’s a city of museums, and the suggestions of sights not to be missed includes Museum of Broken Relationships, St. Mark’s Church, Ban Jelačić Square as the true epitome of European class, and Dolac Market as the belly of Zagreb.

Naturally, the article mentions the cuisine as well, describing it as a unique blend of Mediterranean and Adriatic influences, and recommending Dubravkin Put, Ristorante Carpaccio and Zinfandels as restaurants not to be missed.

When it comes to accommodation suggestions, Condé Nast says the best options are Esplanade Hotel, Hotel 9, and Hotel President Pantovčak.
