A rude awakening during the early hours in the morning for some.
As Morski writes on the 15th of September, 2018, the inhabitants of Sibenik and its neighbouring areas were woken two times last night because of an earthquake.
The first earthquake was moderate and was recorded at 01:48 in the morning, with an epicentre 10 km west-northwest of Šibenik. Its magnitude was 3.0.
Seismographs from the Croatian Seismological Service recorded another, stronger earthquake with an epicentre 10 kilometres northwest of Šibenik near Zaton at 05:09. The second earthquake had a magnitude of 4.2. The Seismological Service reported that the earthquake felt in the wider Šibenik region as was reported to the Seismological Service from locals.
According to EMSC data, the epicentre of the second earthquake was at a depth of two kilometres.
