Two New Wines – Rukatac and Red Traminer in Amphorae by Miloš and Tomac

Updated on:

Despite a very complicated harvest, two of the leading winemakers – Miloš from Pelješac and Tomac from Plešivica – have decided to produce this year two completely new wines.

Frano Miloš made 600 litres of Rukatac from a position above Stagnum. This Rukatac is the first white wine by Miloš after fifteen years. We must admit we are eager to taste Miloš’s Maraština (Rukatac and Maraština are synonyms), due on the market next year.

The Tomac family decided, inspired by the Burgenland classic winemaker and wine grower Heinrich, to place in amphorae Red Traminer (Sauvignon Rose), a variety growing for a long time on Plešivica. Heinrich’s example showed that Red Traminer is excellent in maceration, hence it is logical the Tomac family decided to place the grapes of this quite original variety in their amphorae. As with Miloš, we are very impatient to taste this new wine.
