October the 5th, 2024 – Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to come to a Dubrovnik summit scheduled for next week.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković spoke at a recently held government session on the topic of the participation of Croatian soldiers in the peacekeeping mission in Ukraine. He attacked President Zoran Milanović, who prevented the departure of Croatian officers from going on that mission. Plenković accused him of lying.

“We asked for the president’s approval for thirteen missions, he gave his permission for twelve of them. Milanović participated in the NATO summit and in no way indicated to the allies that he was against it. Now he’s claiming that he wouldn’t give his consent. The level of deception and lies he spreads is honestly unprecedented. He falsely represents an alleged “threat” to the people,” Plenković said.

The prime minister then called on the representatives not to “bury their heads in the sand of Milanović’s presidential campaign”.

“I’d like to call on the members of the Parliament not to agree to follow a policy that is contrary to Croatian interests. Let’s not behave as if we don’t clearly see the Russian aggression against Ukraine. This is happening not far from Croatia and there’s no reason not to show solidarity, including military support to Ukraine. This kind of manipulation aimed at a campaign is unheard of, and it’s that bad that it has no support in the media space,” he said.

He confirmed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy is scheduled to come to a Dubrovnik summit next week. The summit is being held in support for Ukraine from Southeastern European countries.
