January the 2nd, 2025 – Zadar Hospital will soon have innovative means to treat unfortunately common but devastating psychological problems such as depression and anxiety.

Psychiatric disorders are still not given the level of urgency and attention they require when compared to physical issues. Common psychological issues like depression and anxiety result in very many people worldwide choosing to end their own lives annually. These two issues can also be symptoms of far greater psychiatric problems which can devastate the lives of sufferers and their loved ones.

Though not visible in the same way physical injuries and illnesses typically are, mental illness is a scourge on the human population, and each life lost is one too many.

Thankfully, treatments for all kinds of psychiatric problems have advanced, and Zadar Hospital is set to get its hands on a new device that aims to treat the likes of depression.

As Morski writes, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), is a safe, non-invasive method of treating depression and anxiety disorders. It will soon be available at the Department of Psychiatry at the Zadar Hospital, according to local portal Zadarski.hr.

The TMS system Magstim Super Rapid2 Plus1 has already arrived at the Department of Psychiatry, and doctors, nurses and technicians still need to undergo the necessary training. It has been claimed that this method represents a very significant turning point in the treatment of psychological disorders.

During the treatment itself, the patient sits in a comfortable chair similar to a dentist’s chair. First, a place must be found on the patient’s head for the application of electromagnetic waves, and then their strength must be determined in order for them to be effective.

The magnetic field must be directed exactly at the part of the brain that is involved in the development of the disorder being treated. Using this method, the hope is that Zadar Hospital will become far better equipped in general to deal with the very real issues posed by depression, anxiety, and all kinds of associated illnesses.
