December the 17th, 2024 – After much ado, two huge Zagreb projects worth a total of 84 million euros are finally set to get started.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, the stadium reconstruction project in Kranjčevićeva Ulica (Street) is finally moving forward. This week, the powers that be in the city administration announced a tender seeking contractors. The value of this first of the Zagreb projects stands at 35 million euros, or slightly less than 44 million euros including VAT.

As Mayor Tomislav Tomašević announced back at the end of November, the works should last from 15 to 18 months, according to a report from Večernji list.

After the works are completed on the first of these upcoming Zagreb projects, the stadium will be expanded from the current 5,350 seats to 11,163. It will also boast four covered stands, a heated hybrid lawn and diffuse LED floodlights, therefore meeting the very highest of UEFA’s current criteria.

That isn’t all as far as significant Zagreb projects are concerned, as the city administration also announced a 48 million euro tender for a contractor for the construction of a 3.7 kilometre-long tram line along Heinzelova Ulica and Radnička Cesta, more precisely from Zvonimirova to the Savišće roundabout.

According to the project documentation, the works will begin at the Savišće roundabout and stretch along Radnička Cesta, and will later continue along Heinzelova to Zvonimirova. In addition to laying the rails themselves, they include the construction of a new rectifier station and toilets for Zagreb Electric Tram (ZET) employees, as well as the reconstruction of all roads along the route of the future tram line.

In addition, a brand new sewage collector will be constructed in Heinzelova, specifically between Martićeva and Radnička Cesta, and the old one will be entirely removed. Interested companies are currently free submit their offers by January the 20th, 2025, and the works on this project should last two years from the date of commissioning.
