October the 11th, 2025 – Zagreb’s population is quite often seen on two wheels, but unfortunately this is directly among pedestrians, parked cars, scooters and more. As a result, Zagreb is expanding its public cycle network quite extensively.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, the City of Zagreb recently posted that it has officially started a new phase of expanding its public cycle network. This week, a further 47 new bike stations, fully equipped with racks, carefully arranged in different neighbourhoods and along key traffic routes will be installed.

In the first phase of the project which took place back during the summer, new stations were installed at key intersections across the city. Now, as we’re dealing with the second phase, suggestions from the public have been taken into consideration and Zagreb’s public cycle network has been expanded by neighbourhoods in places of residence and work. Stations have also been installed near faculties, schools, sports institutions and outdoor markets. The goal is to further connect existing stations and make the network even better and more accessible for all users. Within this particular phase of the project, bikes can also be ridden within neighbourhoods, facilitating short trips and faster, better access to public transport.

With these new locations in mind, Zagreb will be able to boast of an impressive 90 active stations and 1,000 bicycles on offer to the public. By the end of October, a network of 180 stations and 2,000 bicycles distributed throughout the city is expected to be completed.

“Bajs isn’t just another bicycle system, it’s a symbol of a smarter, more sustainable and more accessible Zagreb. By adding hundreds of new bicycles and stations, we’re bringing mobility closer to every neighbourhood and making it easier for thousands of people to get around the city. Our goal is to make cycling not just a privilege of the centre of Zagreb, but equally accessible across all parts of the city,” emphasised Mayor Tomislav Tomašević.

All information about the newly installed bike stations and the number of bicycles available at them can be found here.
