Photo of the Day: The Olive Harvest Has Begun

From tourism to agriculture for many families up and down the coast, from Dalmatia to Istria, as one of the most important times of the year is upon us once more – the olive harvest. 

It is a time of family togetherness, where different generations converge to pick olives from the family field, a time to relax and enjoy after another busy season. 

Some olive trees are older than others of course, and while the perceived wisdom is that the oldest olive tree in Croatia is in Kastela, an impressive 1,500 years old, others beg to disagree, with some experts dating one tree near Zastrazisce in eastern Hvar at 500 years before Christ.
