One of the rising stars of the Dalmatian coastal tourism scene is its former capital, Zadar. Often overlooked in years gone by for the islands and other destinations, Zadar’s tourism fortunes took a turn for the better a decade ago, when Ryanair decided to commence flights there. The low-cost carrier not only rejuvenated the airport, but the route also caused a growing number of tourists en route to Split to the south to linger a little in one of Dalmatia’s most picturesque stone towns.
Zadar’s tourism fortunes have been on the rise ever since, and the arrival of a seaplane connection to Zadar Airport (and soon to Zadar downtown) has added to the connectivity of the town.
