Rarely does a day go by without an article about the exorbitant prices for all tourist services in Dubrovnik.
However, a new product was released this summer by two Dubrovnik locals – a hospitality expert Vlado Ivić and IT expert Dživo Jelić – The Advantage Card, which, as users say, “has made Dubrovnik affordable again”.
The concept in itself is simple.
The Advantage Card enlisted over 150 service providers in Dubrovnik, including restaurants, bars, experiences, boat trips (groups and private boat with skipper), tours, transport – indeed everything a holidaymaker would require during their trip to Dubrovnik.
Firstly, all service providers provide a standard guaranteed 15% discount off the total bill to cardholders.
In addition, using the application, guests and service providers are in direct contact, whereby the guests receive daily push notifications directly to their phone detailing all special offers, which include discounts of up to 30%. This is the real magic, allowing the service providers to optimise their capacities when business is slow and flatten out the curve over the day to attract guests outside of peak hours with special offers. As such, stabilising income to manage prices charged to end users.
Guests purchase The Advantage Card securely online and receive a QR code, which is presented to the service provider to receive the discount. The application shows all standard and special offers and offers a map to allow guests to navigate to the location.
One card purchase covers up to 4 guests.
As an example, a family of 4 visiting Dubrovnik for 3 days can purchase the card on arrival or in advance. The 3-day card costs 9.99 euros in total for the family of 4. Assuming the family eat out twice a day, takes advantage of special offers for a boat tour with a skipper, visits some attractions, visits a winery etc, the total savings for the family can amount to over 250 euros over the 3 days. The group of 4 is covered by one card that costs less than 10 euros.
The 10-day card costs 19.99 euros
A one-day card can be purchased for 5.99 euros.
