Another lively evening of quality wine and music is a picturesque Dalmatian square, as the weekly Hvar Wine Assocation tastings in St. John’s Square, just off the main square in Jelsa, brought winemakers, wine lovers and tourists together for another memorable Dalmatian evening.
The evening had an extra appeal as it was the first appearance of the Hvar Wine Association’s newest member, Master of Wine Jo Ahearne. Jo, who has moved to Hvar and is the first Master of Wine to make wine in Croatia, was presenting her Ahearne Rosina, made from Darnekusa grapes, one of several indigenous grapes grown only on Hvar.
Also in attendance were representatives from the recent Wine Fredane festival in Italy, where Hvar winemakers were special guests, as well as Boris Mucina, a writer for leading German magazine, Meninger.
The secret is getting out…
Missed all the fun last night? The tastings are scheduled for every Thursday until October. Other winemakers presenting include Tomic, Caric, Dubokovic, Plancic and PZ Svirce – a quality line up.
