Mate Rimac’s truly astonishing acheivement, one of many in reality but by far the most recent and most global, has attracted praise from across the world. Von der Leyen was eager to see what the fuss was all about at the Rimac Automobili headquarters, and it’s safe to say she left the facility impressed.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, Mate Rimac and his associates welcomed the EC President in front of the Rimac Automobili headquarters, and besides the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gordan Grlic Radman, Minister of Finance Zdravko Maric, Minister of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure, Oleg Butkovic, Minister of Science and Education Radovan Fuchs and MEP Dubravka Suica, were all also present.
For anyone who has been living under a rock, Croatian entrepreneur Mate Rimac has taken over no less than Bugatti, and you can read more about that remarkable business move here.
The historical success of Rimac’s innovative company, which operated out of a mere garage when it was first created back in 2009, has been no less than miraculous. It would be had it occurred almost anywhere in the world, but the fact that this happened on the back of a combination of grit and dreams and out of a Croatian garage is truly exceptional.
The merger of Rimac Automobil and Bugatti Automobiles has resulted in a joint venture of sorts, called Bugatti Rimac (in which the newly formed Rimac Group will have a majority stake), which will be directly controlled by the German Porsche with 58.2 percent ownership, while Mate Rimac will remain at the forefront, but with a minority stake of 20.4 percent.
Ursula von der Leyen will hopefully have gained another perspective of just what Croatia can produce when it puts its mind to it after visiting the Rimac Automobili headquarters.
