I am often thinking about how life on the island was like many years ago. I wonder how all of these villages up in the hills were build out of stone, with no electricity, engine motors and roads. What were people eating around here, how did they prepare and keep food.., those kind of thinks.
Luckily, I have a source of answers to most of my questions – my husband´s aunt is shedding some light on the secrets of the simple and tough life on the island in the past, when she was a child in Jelsa.
Today, I stumbled on a beautiful old photo of a wine harvest in Selca near Stari Grad from 1960 (Faros News FB page) and there were a few more at the Jelsa Tourist Board FB page recently, so here they are:
