Well, it is very different in winter. That much is true. And it might not be for everyone. But I believe it is only as good or as bad as you make it for yourself. But for me, the true life on the island only starts after the season. When everything calms down, businesses close for the winter and people have more time again (after working 7 days a week, barely sleeping). I love the island in those quiet months.
We might never have the offer of a big city re culture or other content, but there are many initiatives and associations working on turning the focus to the long-term living on the island. Bringing opportunities for people of all ages, who are interested in having “something to do” on the island. I believe, that there is plenty of people on the island with special skills and talents, who could form groups, offer classes or make people come together for a common interest, or a hobby. This is the content, this is what makes our society alive and it is happening.
One of these initiatives comes from Vrbanj. The Association for improvement of quality of living “Varbonj” offers ceramics classes. The New Year´s course for children and adults will start these days.
