June the 16th, 2023 – Live in Croatia but draw a foreign pension? HZMO (Croatian Pension Insurance Institute) has some important information for you.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, if you recall, the Croatian Government recently expanded the scope of individuals entitled to the payment of a one-off supplement despite having a foreign pension. This sum went up to 610 euros at the end of May, and since then, the Croatian Pension Insurance Institute (HZMO) has published an online form on its website through which 38,000 people who belong to this category have been made able to provide evidence that they only receive a foreign pension.
The rules and regulations
Beneficiaries of pensions in the amount of up to 610 euros, earned in countries with which Croatia has concluded a contract on social security or those that apply European Union regulations on the coordination of social security systems, are entitled to the payment of a one-time supplement. In addition, they may not be employed or perform activities that are subject to mandatory insurance registration, but they must have a residence in Croatia and a bank account in one of the Croatian banks, according to Mirovina.
Proof must be submitted
In order for this sum to be paid, they must submit proof of the amount of the pension for April of this year and the accompanying bank account number to HZMO. Evidence of the amount of the pension can be a bank certificate or a statement from the bank account in question showing the amount of the pension paid into it.
HZMO has made things possible in a multitude of ways
Pensioners who draw only foreign pensions who meet the above criteria should submit one piece of proof to HZMO by August the 31st of this year via an online form that can be accessed here, by mail addressed to the Central Service (Antuna Mihanovica 3, 10000, Grad Zagreb) or by personally coming to their nearest office with a filled-in form for submitting data on the amount of their foreign pension, which can be downloaded here.
Payments will arrive in october 2023 at the latest
All recipients of foreign pensions who complete the application procedure and meet the criteria will be paid a one-time supplement in October of this year at the latest. The exact date of payment will be announced by HZMO later on. The first estimates say that about 38,000 people should be eligible to receive this payment.
