August the 24th, 2023 – A brand new Zagreb McDonalds restaurant has opened its doors, becoming the 45th in the Republic of Croatia.
As Poslovni Dnevnik/Darko Bicak writes, although the new Zagreb McDonalds has already been in trial operation for about a week now, some new facilities are open in the capital.
These new facilities refer to two new Petrol fuel stations, Sesvete Zapad (West) and Sesvete Istok (East), which are located along the Zagreb bypass. Two new Zagreb McDonalds restaurants are also now open and functioning within those two petrol stations.
As Nada Drobne Popović, president of Petrol Group’s Management Board, pointed out at the opening of the new restaurant, this is a significant step which is part of a major investment that includes ten of their sales points in Croatia, and these two are the second and the third.
Slovenski petrol is currently the second largest player on the Croatian fuel market, behind INA, and Drobne Popović has also announced that she expects them to become the leader in the Republic of Croatia by as early as 2025.
While many who visit Croatia tend to naturally avoid eating at McDonalds as it is food that can be obtained more or less anywhere, and they’d prefer to indulge in Croatian delicacies, many of us who live here find the convenience worth while. With petrol stations now gradually transforming into the new “places to be” of sorts since the controversial Sunday working ban was introduced for the retail sector, it’s likely that the American fast food chain will gain in popularity to an even greater extent among road users from both at home and abroad.
