August the 29th, 2023 – The summer is still going and the cars from all over the country and indeed from beyond it are on Croatian motorways. There’s been an eight percent increase in the amount of money taken at toll booths when compared to last year.
With the global coronavirus pandemic now very firmly in the past and with Croatia having been a Schengen member state since January the 1st, 2023, access to the country by road with border checks abolished with Hungary, Slovenia and Italy, has never been easier. The numbers speak for themselves in this regard.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, over the past weekend, more specifically from August the 25th to the 27th, traffic totalling a massive 937,584 vehicles was recorded on all Croatian motorways under the jurisdiction of Croatian Highways (HAC). Toll fees in the amount of 6.37 million euros excluding VAT were collected in total, according to the data from HAC.
In the comparable weekend last year, traffic totalling 847,338 vehicles was recorded, and toll fees were collected in the amount of 5.92 million euros without VAT. That means that vehicle traffic this past weekend on all of the Croatian motorways was eleven percent higher, while the amount of toll fees paid was a not insignificant eight percent higher, as HAC announced on Monday.
