September 3, 2023 – Another new route announcement from Ryanair, for those who fancy a Zagreb – Lanzarote break.
Air travel in Croatia has changed a LOT since I moved here 20 years ago.
Back then, the winter options to get from the UK to Hvar were Ryanair to Graz, train to Zagreb, bus to Split, ferry to Hvar. Or Ryanair to Trieste, bus to Rijeka, (tortuous) bus to Split, ferry to Hvar. The concept of low-cost airlines in Croatia did not exist.
That all changed with the arrival of Ryanair in 2007, as parts of Zadar Airport were demined, and the Irish budget carrier opened a base there. It was a revolution.
Ryanair keeps on pushing the boundaries, and their successful arrival in Zagreb has brought a wealth of choice, not only for people to visit the Croatian capital, but also for locals to enjoy cheap breaks elsewhere. Malta, Kos, Corfu, Paphos and Thessaloniki to name but a few.
There will be a new option from November 4, as Ryanair has announced a weekly Zagreb-Lanzarote flight, the first direct into the Canary Islands, reports ExYuAviation.
“Low cost carrier Ryanair will add a new weekly service between Lanzarote on the Canary Islands and Zagreb. Flights will launch on November 4 and operate each Saturday with the 189-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft.”
Tickets are already available on the Ryanair website. According to the website, Ryanair is now serving 28 destinations in 17 countries from Zagreb.
