October 30, 2023 – Croatia national team coach Zlatko Dalić announced the Croatia player list for the upcoming EURO 2024 qualifiers against Latvia and Armenia.
Croatia will play against Latvia in Riga (November 18) and Armenia in Zagreb (November 21) to close out Group D in the EURO 2024 qualifiers. Dalić has invited 23 players, and 9 players are on standby, reports HNS.
Croatia currently holds third place in the group with 10 points, the same as the second-placed Wales, while the first-placed Turkey (16 points) has already secured their spot at the Euros. The second national team in the group will also qualify for the tournament next summer. In the event that Croatia does not take second place, they will play additional qualifications.
“We have put ourselves in a situation where we no longer depend on ourselves in the group, but we still have our spot at the Euros in our hands. Of course, we hope to avoid additional qualifications, but we will not think about Wales because we cannot influence their results. We have to exclusively focus on ourselves and our matches, do our job to the maximum and take six points as we did in September. We were disappointed in October, and now we have to humbly, decisively and together repair that impression,” coach Dalić pointed out.
“It is understandable that after two bad games, we have to change the player list a bit and add a few new players who deserved it with their form. We also have players on standby, so in the next two weeks, we will see who else we can or should activate, depending on their health and form. We hope for a better medical picture than October and welcome these important matches with the best possible squad. I truly believe we will react well and show that October was an exception. After all, this team has won two big medals in the last year, and the two poor games did not shake my great faith in our quality, possibilities and togetherness,” coach Dalić said.
Croatia will gather on November 13 in Zagreb, where they will train until November 17 and leave for Riga. They will return to Zagreb immediately after that match to face Armenia at Maksimir.
