November the 7th, 2023 – The extreme winds that have given Central Dalmatia a rattle were no match for one Split taxi driver who decided to brave a sea-flooded Bačvice to fulfil the wishes of a disabled passenger.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, a charming video of a yellow taxi breaking through the waves at Bačvice in Split has spread across social media. Brave and clearly highly skilled Split taxi driver Neri Z. explained to Dalmatinski portal precisely why she embarked on this rather unusual, semi-aquatic adventure.
“Every day, we drive a disabled gentleman, who has difficulty moving and uses a walker, from Vidilica to Bačvice. That’s how we started out this morning, and this time I was the one to go and pick him up,” she said. Considering the dire weather conditions and angry sea, he decided that he would just have a coffee, so Neri transported him to the cafe, but decided to bring him right to the very front of the cafe itself.”
“The cafe wasn’t open, and these big waves just started coming in. Suddenly they hit us, it wasn’t a nice feeling at all,” this brave Split taxi driver told the local portal, explaining how the recipe is simple when driving in these conditions – you wait for the wave to pass and then move forward, and you keep repeating that same movement for as long as it lasts.
