March the 19th, 2024 – The Zagreb-Karlovac road is set to get a third traffic lane, according to information from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, the tender for the selection of contractors for the construction of the remaining two lanes of the future Križišće-Žuta Lokva motorway section, from Selce to Novi Vinodolski, will be announced at the beginning of next year. This was revealed by the Minister of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure Oleg Butković during a recent tour of the Novi Vinodolski bypass construction site.
The Novi Vinodolski bypass is being built as an expressway, with two northern lanes of the future motorway, on the Selce – Novi Vinodolski section. However, back at the tail end of last year, a tender was announced for the construction of the full-profile motorway from Križišće to Selce, meaning that now, the construction of the full-profile motorway from Selce to Novi Vinodolski is being planned in parallel, according to a report from Točka na i.
“Croatian Motorways (Hrvatske ceste) are also busy planning a continuation, more specifically from Novi Vinodolski to Senj and from Senj to Vratnik, i.e. to Žuta Lokva. All of the aspects of these plans are either under construction, a tender has been announced for them, or they’re actively being designed,” said Butković.
In addition to the Adriatic-Ionian direction, in the coming period, the focus will be on the construction of the third traffic lane on the A1 Zagreb-Karlovac road, the expansion of the Zagreb ring road and the construction of expressways in Split-Dalmatia County. The same works will be carried out in the continental part of Croatia, where certain cities that are county seats, such as Požega, don’t yet have adequate access to the country’s motorways, the minister concluded.
