April 17, 2024 – The first exit polls for the Croatian elections 2024 point to a very tight race.
Exit polls for the Croatian elections 2024 are out, with the ruling party, HDZ, on course to win the most seats, but significantly less than in 2020.
Back then, HDZ had 66 seats and managed to cobble together a thin majority with the help of the 3 diaspora seats, as well as minority parties. Early indications point to HDZ winning 58 seats this time around, which will make the forming of a new government a little more challenging.
Rivers of Justice, the SDP coalition supported by President Zoran Milanovic is projected to get 44 seats. The party which put together a coalition with 76 seats will form the next government.
Initial projects, without the diaspora and minority parties, are as follows:
HDZ and partners – 58
SDP and partners – 44
DP and partners – 14
Mozemo and partners – 11
MOST and partners – 9
IDS and partners – 2
NPS and partners – 2
Fokus and partners – 1
Turnout was up sharply on 2020, over 50%.
