May the 25th, 2024 – Croatian Motorways (HAC) has presented its new app, which is similar in its function to Google Maps. Meet Crocodile 3.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, Croatian Motorways (HAC) recently presented the Crocodile 3 Croatia project and the LiveTrafficHR mobile application. With the new Crocodile 3 app, Croatian motorway users can receive real-time information important for travel planning and overall road safety.
Presenting the brand new Crocodile 3 mobile application, Davor Bičanić from HAC said that users can log into the application easily, just by using their personal email addresss.
“Our goal was not only to develop a classic navigation system within the app, we also created a mobile application that consolidates the data available to motorway managers located across the Republic of Croatia,” said Bičanić, adding that in addition to HAC, Bina Istra and Autocesta Zagreb – Macelj (AZM) are also covered by the app.
Information that serves traffic safety to drivers is shared in real time. In addition, drivers can plan their journey and know where they are at all times, while in the event of an accident or bad weather conditions, they will be shown a detour route.
In real time, the Crocodile 3 app will inform users about all current road works, weather conditions and the complete condition of Croatia’s motorways at all sections. The application is also connected to the emergency services via the number 112, so that if, for example, the driver encounters an accident, he can contact the relevant services through the application.
The Director of the Department for European Funds and International Cooperation of HAC, Marina Pintur, said that the Crocodile 3 app project results in the better management of traffic flow. It also allows for better travel planning and getting users timely information about emergency situations and weather issues. All of that is done with the aim of reducing the number of accidents, deaths, injuries and property damage on the country’s busy roads.
She stated that the Crocodile 3 project covers seven European Union Member States: Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Slovenia, Cyprus and Croatia.
“The Crocodile 3 project represents the cooperation of the public administration, motorway and state road managers, as well as traffic service providers. The result is a high-quality service for road users on one of the most important road corridors in all of Europe,” said Pintur, before adding that the project enables drivers to optimise their desired route before or during their trip, react to traffic disturbances and avoid potentially dangerous situations.
The value of the Crocodile 3 project stands at 4.89 million euros, of which 85 percent, or slightly more than 4.1 million euros, is financed by EU funds.
