July the 25th, 2026 – The Croatian passport just keeps on climbing the ranks and is now among the world’s strongest, ranking ahead of the US and others.
The Croatian passport has climbed into the world’s top tier, ranking among the strongest travel documents globally and offering its holders greater travel freedom than the passports of several major world powers, including the United States.
As Eva Barisic reports for Poslovni, according to the latest Henley Passport Index, Croatian citizens can travel to 183 destinations without needing to obtain a visa in advance, placing Croatia 8th in the global rankings. The result puts the Croatian passport ahead of both the United States, which ranks 10th with access to 182 destinations, and the United Kingdom, which is 6th with access to 185 destinations.
The index measures the number of destinations passport holders can enter either visa-free or by obtaining a visa on arrival. It is based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and is widely regarded as one of the leading indicators of global passport strength.
Croatia shares 8th place with Estonia, Latvia, Slovakia and the United Arab Emirates, while Singapore remains at the top of the rankings with visa-free access to 193 destinations. Japan and South Korea follow closely behind with access to 190 destinations.
The latest rankings reflect Croatia’s continued growth in international mobility and the benefits of its integration into the European Union and the Schengen Area, making it easier than ever for Croatian citizens to travel around the world.
The strong position of the Croatian passport is another sign of the country’s increasing global connectivity, offering both leisure and business travellers easier access to hundreds of destinations without the need for lengthy visa procedures.
