Pounje textile company is well-known throughout the region.
Pounje textile company from Hrvatska Kostajnica was once a trend setter in the region when it comes to underwear for women. It is now reviving the old glory through the cooperation with Croatian fashion designers, said Tihomir Babić, CEO of the company, reports Poslovni.hr on May 7, 2016.
Pounje has partnered up with the fashion designer Marija Cvitanović. Their collaboration started last year, and they have already presented a collection called “Marka M Vintage Glamour.” Marka M will be available at the stores in mid-May. Cvitanović has found inspiration in Hollywood divas from the 1950’s, and instilled some of their glamorous style into the collection. “In Pounje, they wanted to make up for the lack of their old brand. My visions fit perfectly into their plans, and this is how our joint project came to be”, said Cvitanović. “Actually, this is just the beginning. As the seasons change, we will keep putting new product lines on the market,” she added. The new female underwear collection which will be available in May is dominated by lace and silk.
Pounje has been trying since 2013 to solve the problems hindering its development through the pre-bankruptcy settlement. This stressful situation is finally coming to an end. Recently, a business plan about the operational and financial restructuring had been adopted, explained Babić. Creditors have accepted the write-off for one third of the claims, while the other third will be settled through the real estate, as agreed with the bankers. For the rest of the debts – obligations amounting to about seven million kuna – several models have been agreed upon with the grace period of one to two years, while the payments related to the claims will extend four to six years.
“With this, our indebtedness falls under 30 percent and we have no short-term claims”, said Babić. This kind of solution, he added, opens the space for the company’s big plans and its successful production development, and an even stronger branding. Pounje, he said, exports its products to Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Macedonia, and after a short pause it is going back to the Serbian market, where their entire range has had an excellent feedback. Meanwhile, in addition to wholesales, they are also building their own network of retail stores. They have opened two stores in Zagreb and one in Dubrovnik and soon they are planning to open a store in Split.
