“Hvar / An UNESCO Island” Tonight in Stari Grad

Today June 8, from 21h-00h at the Stari Grad Museum, “Hvar / An UNESCO Island” will finally be shown back in Stari Grad!

After displays in Brussels and Zagreb, the exhibition “Hvar / A UNESCO Island” has finally made its way back to Stari Grad.

 

The exhibition, organized by the Stari Grad Museum, the Stari Grad Municipality, and in collaboration with three photographers, represents the island of Hvar as a unique island in the Adriatic.

 

This exhibition displays the abundance of why the island can truly be called a UNESCO island. With the Stari Grad Plain and the historical centre of Stari Grad, enlisted on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and under the protection of UNESCO, are two original Hvar intangible phenomena: the procession Following the Cross and Agave lace made by Benedictine nuns from Hvar town. Also shown is the common heritage of the Mediterranean diet and klapa singing.

 

This exhibition was also shown to European Parliament in April 2016 as part of the 2400 year old celebration of Stari Grad.

 

The exhibition will run until the end of July.
