Summer has started, vacations are being planned. Meanwhile, in addition to concerts and music festivals, the summer on the coast brings a lot of cultural events that every lover of art, performances and films would appreciate. If you were planning a trip to Istria this week, there are several cultural events that will add a quality cultural experience to your vacation time, reports journal.hr on July 1, 2016.
Grožnjan
An exhibition by Damjan Komel opens today, July 1, in the beautiful hilltop town of Grožnjan. Entitled “Seed”, it will display his sculptures – elongated playful surfaces that penetrate the space. The emphasis is on combining materials, usually wood and stone.
Poreč
Izgubljeno/Nađeno (Lost and Found), a multimedia exhibition, opened a few days ago at the beautiful Native Museum of Poreč and can be seen until 18 July. The exhibition includes the photo projects by Andy Fabrykant, Ross T. Smith, Cleo Wächter, Robert Sironić and Petra Počanić, as well as the video art works of Miro Soares.
Visitors can also see a selection of multimedia and video projects chosen in collaboration with the Slideluck platform, a non-profit based in New York that promotes organization of photo events and screenings where a single event combines art and food.
Rijeka
Although Rijeka is not located in Istria, on the way to this beautiful peninsula you will very likely pass by this intriguing city. If you have time, do not miss a movie night there. The new season of the Summer Art Cinema brings the most viewed and top rated movies of the last season, and includes some screenings from the Festival of Mediterranean Film in Split and the Motovun Film Festival, as well as the latest European and world film hits. Along with its “’usual” summer program, the Art Cinema will have three additional programmes at the alternative locations in the city.
Rovinj
Inside the Centre for Visual Arts Photo Batana in Rovinj, an exhibition of Slavica Subotić photographs will be opened on 1 July and will close on 28 July. Walking through the forest and making photos, the author captures the environment in an interesting way, while at the same time moving and creating amorphous images of the entire ambiance.
Meanwhile, the Adris Gallery in Rovinj currently hosts an exhibition of the renowned Croatian painter Slavko Kopač. The exhibition is open until 11 September.
