A solid combination of old konobas, seafood havens, new concepts and wine bars, and Dalmatian fare with flair, this top 10 list for Split is not only strong, but surely boasts something for everyone. Some of the restaurants on the list have been on the scene for years, while most have opened over the last couple of years – and are partly responsible for this new Split buzz. Some of the restaurants are in the center of the old town, others a bit further out, but each one a definite must try on your visit to Split.

1. Konoba Nikola: Located in Stobreč about a 15 minute drive outside of the old town, Konoba Nikola is known for it’s seafood, classic Dalmatian fare, and top quality ingredients. Although a bit pricier, Konoba Nikola has earned its spot as number one with 283 reviews. Nikola is located at Ivankova 42, Stobreč.
2. Wine & Cheese Bar Paradox: Always on top, Paradox offers the most extensive wine list in Split. Although not entirely a restaurant as Paradox only offers charcuterie boards, the ambiance and education you’ll have on domestic wines, meats, and cheeses here are well worth it. Paradox has 786 reviews and is located at Ujeviceva Poljana 2.
3. Villa Spiza: Located right in the center of the old town next to popular Charlie’s Bar, Villa Spiza is a tiny room with a few tables set out on the alleyway outside – not recommended for groups. Here you will find classic Dalmatian specialties, with a daily handwritten menu where menu items get crossed off as they sell out. 4. Perivoj: Another restaurant that is about a 10 minute walk outside of the center, Perivoj is set in a classical garden and stunning old style ambiance. The menu is traditional but served with a twist, and they also offer 5 course tasting menus if you’re feeling spontaneous. Known especially for their desserts, we hear this restaurant books fast. 5. Konoba Marjan: A truly classic, family owned konoba on the walk up to Varoš, Konoba Marjan is not only charming, but is the place to go to for seafood in Split. Serving the freshest catches of the day and seafood specialities like black risotto, this konoba is simple, authentic, and definitely needs to be booked in advanced. 6. Konoba Matejuška: The other restaurant you go to for seafood in Split is Konoba Matejuška, located just around the corner from Konoba Marjan. An even smaller authentic konoba with only a few tables to sit, Matejuška offers up an even simpler menu with only the freshest fish, prepared in Dalmatian ways. 7. Zinfandel Food & Wine Bar: Zinfandel opened at the beginning of the Split restaurant boom back in 2013, and has definitely made their mark. 8. Dvor: Located about a 15 minute walk outside of the city center we have Dvor, in the seaside retreat not far from Bačivce. Dvor is the sister restaurant to Perivoj, so we know it’s bound to be good. Their menu boasts the best from the grill, but also has a dessert list that is a must try. Dvor has been reviewed 772 times and is located at Put Firula 14.
9. Konoba Matoni: Yet another restaurant about a 10 minute walk from the center, Matoni opened over the last few years. Their menu is unique, offering big portions with options such as oxtail and pastas made in woks. They are also gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan friendly so be sure to look out for menu items with those options. Konoba Matoni has been reviewed 308 times and is located at Brace Kaliterna 6.
10. Bokeria: Another fairly new restaurant to the scene over the last couple of years, Bokeria won the hearts of tourists fast. A very cool ambiance, hip staff, and a trendy menu, Bokeria is known for items like their beef carpaccio and their gourmet burger.
