One of the most famous football referees in Croatia, Bruno Marić, was assaulted on October 11. 2016 in Stobreč while dining in the local restaurant. Police officials are not telling much, as the investigation is still in progress, and they only confirmed that one of the attackers has been detained by the police.
Bruno Marić was given first aid in the Split Hospital and then left with the police escort. His lawyer, who witnessed the event accused former officials of Hajduk Split for the encouraging the assault. He also stated that Marić had his handgun during the assault but did not want to use it.
