It has been quite a five years. Happy Birthday 2Cellos! here’s to the next five.
2Cellos, the world famous Croatian cellist duo, celebrates its fifth birthday on Wednesday. Among many who wanted to congratulate them for their anniversary is the legendary Australian band AC/DC who posted on their Facebook page a cover of Thunderstuck, reports Dalmacija News on January 20, 2016.
2Cellos marks five years since they uploaded on YouTube their cover of Michael Jackson’s hit “Smooth Criminal”. The video very quickly became an international viral sensation which has brought them global fame within just a few months. In the last five years, Luka Šulić and Stjepan Hauser held more than a thousand concerts, attended by more than 10 million people. They have travelled more than three million kilometres in order to play in more than 40 countries.
Just a few hours before the fifth birthday of 2Cellos, AC/DC posted on its official Facebook page their cover of Thunderstruck, which Šulić and Hauser consider to be a great honour since AC/DC is one of their favourite bands.
Just this past weekend, their Facebook page received its one millionth “like”, which has not been achieved by any other Croatian performer. Also, Japan has announced that 20 January will be the 2Cellos Day in that country.
Luka and Stjepan will celebrate their fifth birthday with a world tour which will last for the whole year. They are also getting ready to launch a major American tour which will include 42 concerts, most of which have already been sold out. “This day is very important for us and we cannot believe everything which has happened during the last five years. However, the excitement and energy are the same as the very first day and we cannot wait for our new adventures to begin”, said Luka and Stjepan who are currently in China.
