Prime Minister-Designate Orešković Presents New Croatian Government

At a press conference held on January 21, 2016 in Zagreb, Prime Minister-designate Tihomir Orešković presented the candidates for ministers in the new government. The government is comprised of representatives of the HDZ-led Patriotic Coalition and MOST, reports Vecernji List.

“Good day to all. We have two deputy prime minister and 20 ministers. During the last 15 days, I had 60 meetings with highly qualified people from academia, business and others sectors. We have chosen a good team”, said Orešković. “It is a healthy mix of young and new people who will cooperate together. It is important to me that we have a team spirit. We have gathered already this morning, the team is positive and full of energy”, said Orešković.

The journalists were then handed the list with the names of new ministers, expect the Minister of Internal Affairs. Unofficially, the new Interior Minister will be Vlaho Orepić.

The new ministers are:

Božo Petrov, Deputy Prime Minister
Vlaho Orepić, Minister of Interior Affairs
Dubravka Jurlina Alibegović, Minister of Administration
Davor Romić, Minister of Agriculture
Slaven Dobrović, Minister of Environmental Protection
Ante Šprlje, Minister of Justice
Tomislav Panenić, Minister of Economy
Mijo Crnoja, Minister of Veteran Affairs
Zdravko Marić, Minister of Finance
Lovro Kuščević, Minister of Construction
Zlatko Hasanbegović, Minister of Culture
Josip Buljević, Minister of Defence
Darko Horvat, Minister of Entrepreneurship
Oleg Butković, Minister of Transportation
Tomislav Tolušić, Minister of Regional Development and EU Funds

The Prime Minister-designate will officially present the candidates for ministers to Parliament tomorrow. After a debate, it is expected they will be confirmed by votes of majority of all members of Parliament, after which the new government will officially take power, almost two and a half months after the parliamentary elections were held on 8 November.
