These are boom times for Croatia’s airports, which are enjoying a record year, with 2017 looking like it will be even better. Expanded terminals for both Zagreb and Dubrovnik are approaching completion, while work on Split’s expansion is finally set to begin.
Further up the coast in Pula, there has been a quiet change of emphasis on flight strategy following EU accession in 2013. Prior to that, some 40% of passenger traffic to Pula came from Russia, a number that was reduced drastically with the introduction of an EU visa requirement.
The Pula Airport management team has successfully managed to attract a range of new airlines and destinations to fill the void, with Lufthansa the latest airline to announce a new route for 2017.
Pula will be connected to Frankfurt twice a week, with flights taking place on Mondays and Fridays, with the first flight scheduled for April 28.
