Croatian Railways (HŽ), as of 13 December will have new timetables, reports HRTurizam on 12 December 2016. In relation to the timetables of the 2014/15 season, on 13 December the railway passenger transport will introduce four border trains towards Serbia, a pair of night trains between Zagreb-Split-Zagreb driving in the off-season, and an additional five trains in local traffic will also be introduced. The timetable for 2015/16 from 13 December will operate 714 international trains and 657 in domestic traffic.

In international traffic, Croatia has the same number of trains connected with Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Hungary. The cross-border traffic with Serbia will be introduced in two trains between Osijek – Bogojevo – Osijek and two trains from Erdut – Sombor – Erdut. Border trains between Lendava – Mursko Središče – Lendava who were driving on Saturdays, will operate from Monday to Saturday, and will not operate on holidays.

In remote traffic the night train 820/821 from Zagreb – Split in the off season will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and from Split – Zagreb on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, whereas in the summer you can ride trains daily from May to October. In its composition will be wagons with sleeping carriages and beds and a wagon to transport tracked vehicles. The seasonal 1820/1821 train from Zagreb – Split – Zagreb, who drives during July and August, will not circulate.

For local traffic, HŽ introduced extra trains on routes Gornja Stubica – Zabok, Primorski Dolac – Split, Koprivnica – Pitomaca – Koprivnica and Pitomača – Virovitica. Four of the trains who ride from Pula to Lupoglav have an extended ride to Buzet.

“Also, there has been a change in schedule from Zagreb to Križevci, Koprivnica and Bjelovar and vice versa for reducing driving diesel-engine trains on the electrified section Križevci – Zagreb – Križevci. This will enable passengers to be more comfortable during transport with new electric and conventional trains, and by reducing energy costs and maintenance we will increase the availability of diesel-engine trains on lines that are not electrified. From Bjelovar – Zagreb – Bjelovar we will operate four direct trains while the passengers of other trains in Križevcima change trains to Zagreb / Bjelovar,” says the Croatian Railways (HŽ).

The new timetable comes into effect on 13 December 2016 and you can find more information here.
