Companies from Croatia participated in the Hong Kong Food Festival.
PIK Vrbovec and Belje concluded 2016 with a presentation of their meat products at the Hong Kong Food Festival 2016, which took place from 24 to 28 December. For the first time ever in Hong Kong, PIK Vrbovec presented its traditional meat products, while Belje presented the Baranja Kulen, a product with the geographical origin protection, reports Poslovni.hr on January 4, 2017.
PIK Vrbovec exports its products to the markets of CEFTA (Central European Free Trade Agreement) and to over 15 EU member states, such as Italy, Romania, Sweden, Hungary, Germany, Austria and many others. The share of sales to foreign markets in 2016 amounted to 19 percent.
The 14th Hong Kong Food Festival brought together renowned producers from around the world and had over 1,250,000 visitors. This was the first time that Croatian producers presented their traditional products to the Asian market, which is even more important since Hong Kong is also the entry point for markets of China and the Pacific.
“In recent years, PIK Vrbovec has focused on exports, especially to the European Union and other markets outside the region, and the share of sales of the entire range of products in foreign markets in 2016 amounted to 19 percent. Since we already export to Hong Kong certain categories of meat products, this fair was a great opportunity for PIK Vrbovec to present its processed meat products. PIK’s quality and innovations in production processes, both with regards to fresh meat products and processed meat, have been recognized at foreign markets and therefore we believe that participation in this event contributed to further business expansion in the Asian markets, which is for us a particularly interesting and challenging region”, said Boris Cvetković, export director of PIK Vrbovec.
“Baranja Kulen is a product rich in tradition which Belje produces according to traditional recipes of the old masters. It is precisely with such authentic specialty products that we are present in export markets around the world. Asian markets are interesting to us because of their tendency to savoury food and products made from the best pork, just like the Baranja Kulen”, said Ivica Starčević, sales, marketing and tourism director at Belje.
PIK Vrbovec is the largest exporter within the Agrokor Group and, after Croatia entered the European Union, the company has each year recorded a double-digit growth in exports. State of the art technology, top experts, tested recipes and continuous innovation, as well as the tradition which lasts for over 75 years, guarantee the quality of the PIK’s brands and enable success at both national and regional, as well as international markets.
